I knew that I wanted to go abroad after completing my HND but I had no idea which place or institute to select. I visited CONFED and went over many options however; it was the University of Hertfordshire that appealed the most to me. During my time in England, I travelled a lot and was able to see a good part of England. But then again, studying abroad is not just about travelling and exploring, the institute you select has a great impact on your experience as well. The classes at Hertfordshire University were challenging yet very interesting. The teachers were very kind and they were always there to give their undivided attention. The University itself is amazing and that’s exactly why I chose to do my MSc Marketing from the same University. The 2 years that I spent at University of Hertfordshire helped me grow faster. On my return to Pakistan I was offered a job at Al Baraka Bank (Pakistan) Limited, Head office Karachi. I am now, one of the 3 key players who are taking care of the international brand i.e. Al Baraka Banking Group (ABG). In the end, what matters is, that I am satisfied with the decisions I took

While I was studying in Institute of Management Studies, Peshawar, I decided to transfer my credit hours and seek admission in a reputable institute in the UK. I visited many agents and did an extensive research on the available opportunities; however, it was CONFED that provided me with the most suitable option… Newcastle Business School, University of Northumbria. Initially, I found it difficult to adjust with the culture of the UK but with the passage of time, things began to settle and I was quite happy. Not only did I get an opportunity to obtain quality education from NBS, I also got to learn a lot from a multiethnic society as we had a great number of international students (and an overwhelming number of local students as well) studying with us. After completing my Honors in International Business Management I am now, by the Grace of Almighty Allah, employed at Deloitte where I can put my knowledge to use in a practical job environment. Now I can safely conclude that coming to the UK for quality education was a turning point in my academic career and I am completely satisfied with my decision.

Joining the prestigious Newcastle Business School at the University of Northumbria in the January session was a good decision to make as it gave me more time to work on the final year project. Going abroad for studies was a big decision to make but it was definitely worth it. Joining an international university won’t just give you a groovy degree but it’ll also teach you something additional which is equally important “the international exposure”. To cover my expenses, I got a job at Abercrombie & Fitch “Hollister” and worked as a model & an overnight stock member which added more experience to my international exposure & loaded up my CV. The best part about Northumbria is the wide variety of courses that are being offered at the university. The higher education in the UK is one of the prime services that this country has to offer. Northumbria is all about diversity whether its the courses or the faculty members and students. In a nutshell, Northumbria is the best place to come if one wants to enhance their knowledge as high quality education is the best thing this place has to offer

I joined Northumbria University in September 2010 and to date I have completed my undergrad in Mass Communications & Business and have obtained a first class grade in my dissertation. I was named as one of the outstanding students of 2010/11 and was awarded a good amount of scholarship for my postgrad. I had an amazing year during my top up course and what fascinated me the most was the learning process. Currently I am doing my postgrad in Media Cultures and representing the International students of my school. Being an International Student Rep, I am obliged to interact with International students to solve any issues they face, get feedback and bring in improvements to make learning a better experience for myself and for the students of my school. In addition, I have also been appointed as the Postgraduate Taught School Representative for the School of Arts and Social Sciences. My responsibility is to improve the experience of students across my School. I assist the smooth running of the Course Rep system, and act as a channel of communication between Course Reps in my School, the Students’ Union, my School’s management team and the University.

Student life in the UK is among the best things that can happen to you. Being an international student in the UK is fun as it offers a lot of perks as well. Having a student card will get you discounts, a free bank account, free GP registration, exemption from council tax etc. All in all, you get to focus on your studies and all the entertainment that it offers alongside. It gives you an opportunity to meet new people from different cultures which enable you to view life from a different perspective. You get to explore a lot, and as a result you learn a lot. So all in all, the life in the UK was an amazing experience. While I was studying in University of Hertfordshire, I developed a passion for Photography. There were plenty of stimuli available in the environment which proved to be a catalyst for my passion. I was soon given an opportunity to be a part of an affiliated magazine of University of Hertfordshire and from there on, I started taking photography as a profession. The passion was there, the life in the UK ignited that spark and studying in University of Hertfordshire provided me with the opportunity to prove myself.
