University of Hertfordshire

ertfordshire University is one of its region’s largest employers with over 2,700 staff and a turnover of £181m. With a student community of 23,000, including more than 2,000 international students from over 85 countries, the university has a global network of over 160,000 alumni. The Times Good University Guide 2008 ranks University of Hertfordshire fourth in terms of ethnic mix. In 2008, the University was shortlisted for the University of the Year Award. In 2009 the Times Higher Education magazine shortlisted the university for the Entrepreneurial University of the Year Award.

The University’s £15 m Hertfordshire Sports Village offers the best in sports and fitness facilities for all, including a 110-station health and fitness centre, a 25-metre 8-lane indoor pool, a sports hall with a variety of 12 courts and a 12-metre high climbing wall. Over 90 percent of the students are in employment or further study shortly after graduation. Almost one third of them choose to work in Hertfordshire. Entertainment

Whether you want to stay on campus or explore the local area, there’s loads to do at the University of Hertfordshire. The Student Union is a great place for entertainment and fun. Apart from that, a £38 million entertainment venue by the name The Forum promises to be a great place to meet, eat and have a night out with its choice of new bars, eateries and a mini-club. Also, you can catch all the latest films at the ten-screen multiplex cinema at the nearby Galleria. Campus West in Welwyn Garden City, just a 5 km bus ride away, shows classic and foreign films.

If you’re looking for something quick and easy, the Galleria shopping centre, just ten minutes walk away, has burgers and pizzas galore, as well as oriental food and cocktails at Mai Tai’s. In St Albans you can find anything from Japanese noodles at Wagamama to authentic Italian pizza at Zizzi’s to haute cuisine at Darcy’s.
